Lesson 14
– Equipping by Ian Andrews
Welcome back to Month 4 and week 2 and here is where I share all the good stuff that God has given me from Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 and Genesis 3.
In the beginning God, God was always there, He always will be there and He said “let there be evening and the morning in the first study. And since God doesn’t view things like we do and there’s a very real reason for this. God want”s us to be renewed in the spirit of our mind, God wants us to think like He thinks and God wants us to communicate and fellowship and be able to contact Him.
In Genesis Chapter 2, there are two trees in the Garden of Eden and it is this that I really want you to grasp. God did not say we cannot eat from the Tree of Llfe , He just said to Adam I want you to enjoy my presence, I want you to fulfill my purposes but, of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, thou shall not eat that, in the day that you do it you will surely die.
And so God did not want Adam and Eve to feed on that tree. That tree produces two fruits, the knowledge of good and the knowledge of bad. God never intended us to know that kind of knowledge. He wanted us to know him.
We couldn’t eat the Tree of Life because Adam and Eve fell in Chapter 3, they, Eve had a conversation with the Devil, the serpent. And the serpent said to her you will not surely die. This is the Devil’s method, first of all to cause us to doubt what God says. I learned many years ago, 43 years ago now, doubt your doubts and that is a real theological statement that not all people make, doubt your doubts. When you doubt someday you will be healed, doubt that doubt and you will find God is at the other end.
They took up the fruit and ate it. And then she knew she was naked and Adam knew he was naked. They were naked but they were clothed in the glory of God in Chapter 2, that covering left and they then start to do it themselves. And so they got fig leaves together, that’s a large leaf with its small holes in leaf it’s not really suitable to make a bikini. But that was their idea of covering up their intimate parts.
God’s idea was far beyond that and He want to give them clothes of skin. What I really want you to notice in these passages is that God did not reject them, they became afraid of God. In Chapter 3,
God came for fellowship as usual and He said “Adam where are you?”. Adam said, I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself and they became afraid of God.
Jesus is described in the New Testament as the last Adam, and I want you to see and realize that He, as the last Adam put the fruit back on the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. He was born out of wed lock, but He didn’t judge is this good or this is evil. He was a refugee but He never judged is this good or bad. When it comes to the miracles He never thought in a natural view point, this is impossible because He was in fellowship with God and with God all things are possible.
We are looking together at Genesis Chapters 1, 2 & 3
